TransportThe transport complex of Bashkortostan is one of the largest and the most stable transport complexes in Russia. The Republic possesses a branchy network of motor-car, railway, river and piping transport. Bashkortostan stands on the first place in the country on the length of its roads – this is almost 25 thousands kilometers of roads, including about 500 kilometers of federal highways. All cities and settlements RB are interconnected between themselves and with the capital of Bashkortostan with asphalted roads. The density of highways in general use with asphalt in Bashkortostan is 155 kilometers per one thousand square meters and this is higher than all over Russia on average. In all 404 bridges with total length 23400 running meters and more than 13800 kilometers of asphalted roads have been built up all over the Republic for the last 16 years and active road building is going on. The Republic is running wide-scaled reconstruction for the main „gates“ of the Republic now – the railroad Ufa station and the international airport „Ufa“. The international airport „Ufa“ is found in the Top10 of the best Russian airports. More than 40 air companies use its services, including foreign ones. In 2006 about one million passengers have been transported and this is by 8,5% more than in 2005. In 2007 the airport plans to transport more than one million passengers. Specializing in motor-car transportations. In 2005 more than 220 buses and 100 cars have been purchased just for one „BASHAVTOTRANS“ through leasing. In 2006 its fleet was increased due to the buses of the motor-car plant from Neftekamsk and comfortable „Mercedes-Sprinter“ microvans. Small business is also actively developing in sphere of transportations and private transporters are making weighty contribution to solution of the transport problem, using microvans of Russian production (mainly „Gazelles“) and cars. Only in Ufa dozens of private transport companies work and the Association of motor-car enterprises RB was established specially for coordination of their activity. Bashkortostan is found on the second place in Volga federal region on the number of private cars. The number of cars is stably growing up in the Republic. Federal State Statistical Service in Bashkortostan reports 95% of car fleet belongs to population RB at present time. The number of cars per 100 citizens has increased from 180 to 189 in 2006. To the beginning of 2007 Bashkortostan stands on the 16th place in Russian Federation on the number of private cars and the second in Volga federal region, yielding only to Samara. Such kinds of public transport as tram and trolley-bus are also well-developed in Bashkortostan and electric transport is considered the cleanest from ecological point of view and the most efficient kind of public transport. The first tram has appeared in Ufa 70 years ago – on February 1, 1937. Trolley-buses have been put into exploitation in the capital RB on January 1962. At present time the length of tram and trolley-bus lines in Ufa exceeds 300 kilometers and they transport dozens millions people during one year. The fleet of trolley-buses is replenished mainly due to production of JSC „Bashkir trolley-bus plant“, which produces several models of trolley-buses, including low-floor ones. Bashkir division of Kuibishev railroad – a subsidiary of JSC „Russian Railways“ – is one of the largest divisions of Kuibishev railroad. In 2006 Bashkir railroaders have transported more than 20 millions tons of freights. Nearly 14 millions people have left for other cities and countries from Bashkir railway stations and toll exchanges in 2006. Bashkir river steamship line holds leading positions among other Russian steamship lines. Its fleet consists of 150 ships, specializing in transportation of freights and passengers. |
